The men’s over 45 division is set for a thrilling finale as Michael Heatly leads Mick O’Brien by just one point. Four athletes have achieved the six stage minimum, but the race for title will be fought out between these two. Michael started the series in the over 40 category before moving up to the over 45 group with good success. The three have raced against each other three times in this category, with Michael getting the better of Mick on two occasions.
Senior Women
In the senior women’s category, Rachel Wisdom continues in her efforts to catch current leader Claire O’Callaghan. Claire tops this category, having completed 8 races and winning four of these in the process. However, Rachel has won a very impressive 5 races, but has yet to reach the six race minimum. She can do this on Thursday. If Claire wins on Thursday and Rachel finishes second, they will tie on points and the number of stage wins!

In the women’s over 45 category, Dora Hagan leads the way with 9 race finishes, including 8 top three finishes. However, Martha O’Neill is breathing down her neck. Martha has achieved five race finishes, so she needs to record on more to challenge Dora for the title. If Martha wins on Thursday she would reach a points total of 10, one better than Dora’s current score of 11. However, if Dora wins she would score an even better overall score of 9. At the last two stages, Martha won and Dora finished second. If this happens again, they will draw on 10 points, but Martha would get the edge on race wins.

The contest for the men’s over 50 title is down to two athletes, Bill Porter and Ben Mooney. Ben has yet to achieve the six race minimum, but if he races on Thursday he could move into the lead. Ben and Bill have encountered each other three times this campaign, with Ben coming out on top each time.
W55
The women’s over 55 league standings are led by Patricia Redmond. However, two athletes are just one race from achieving the six race minimum, Christine McCann and BB Kenny. BB has recorded five wins this season and if she competes on Thursday she should have this category title wrapped up.
JM
In the junior men’s division, two athletes are in contention for the category title: Ben Kinsella and James Byrne. Both athletes have recorded 5 race finishes and need to run in the league final if they are to take the win. Ben Kinsella has the upper hand and, if he races on Thursday, victory should be his.
The final stage of the Fit4Life series takes place in Wicklow Town, with registration taking place by the Leitrim Lounge from 7pm. The race, which is hosted by Inbhear Dee, will start at 7:30.
